Decoral® process

It is based on the physical-chemical process of Sublimation, which is the direct conversion of a substance from the solid to the gaseous state.
Raw aluminium

1. Raw aluminium

The raw materials used for manufacturing Powders and Films are produced according to international standards.

Metal pre-treatment

2. Metal pre-treatment

All treatments prior to coating must include a phase of attack on aluminum. Such attack consists of one or more phases, the last of which, made before chemical conversion, must be acid.

Powder coating

3. Powder coating

Polyurethane coating Powders are Qualicoat approved. Pre-treatment and coating are undertaken by Verniciatura Industriale Veneta (Qualicoat licence no. 704).

decorated aluminium

4. Sublimation

The sublimation film, printed with special inks, must adhere perfectly to the coated substrate that should be decorated. Moreover, the temperature must reach 195-210° C.

Decoral System: profile.

Decoral System® produces and sells polyurethane coating Powders and heat transfer Films. Combining them, it is possible to obtain a huge number of patterns. All Decoral® System raw materials undergo a large number of strict and selective quality checks that ensure consistent quality, which is typical of the finished products manufactured by Decoral®.

Decoral System®

Polyurethanic Decoral coating

Thanks to the powder coating process, it is possible to get Polyurethanic Decoral® Coating finish in various colours (RAL, NCS, Pantone, sample matching). The production cycle consists of a number of specific pre-treatments, followed by coating with special polyurethane Powders (Decoral System polyurethane powder coating). The Powders used comply with the requirements of Qualicoat international specification with approvals P-0506, P-0617, P-0832 and P-0865.

Decoral System

Sublimatic Decoral® effect

The wood finish Sublimatic Decoral® Effect is obtained through the sublimation process. The production cycle is divided into several steps, including coating with special polyurethane Powders (Decoral System polyurethane powder coating) and heat transfer, which requires sublimation Films (Decoral System heat transfer films). Such Films are a faithful reproduction of real wood, stones, marble and fantasy.

Frequently Asked Question

decoral system green philosofy Decoral® process is a patented process for DECORating Aluminium. It is based on the physical-chemical process of Sublimation, which is the direct transition of a substance from the solid to the gaseous state. Such technology is also named Heat-Transfer Process. The Decoral® process can be extended to other materials (metal, glass, plastic, ceramic), the basic requirement being that these materials can resist a temperature of 200° C for about 10 minutes with no deformation. Through Decoral® process countless effects and patterns such as woodgrain, marble, granite, fancies, pictures can be transferred on different surfaces. Decoral System® was the first Company worldwide to use the Heat-transfer process on aluminium extrusions and laminates in the architectural field.
In order to apply the Decoral® process you need to have the following equipment and materials:
1) A Special Decoral® Equipment;
2) A Special Decoral® Polyurethane coating powder to be sprayed and cured in a Coating Unit;
3) A Decoral® Heat-Transfer film (plastic film carrying the desired effect printed with special inks). .
The object (shape, extrusion, laminate, etc.), on which we would like to apply Decoral® process, undergoes the following phases:
1) It is painted with a Decoral® Polyurethane powder coating. Coating process consists of three different stages: pre-treatment, powder spraying and curing. The coating layer acts as a sort of bed into which the special heat-transfer inks are transferred by sublimation.
2) After coating, the object is cooled down and then wrapped with Decoral® Heat-Transfer film. Air is vacuumed from inside in order to make the film perfectly adhere to the object’s surface.
3) Film-Wrapped and vacuumed objects are then moved and cured in a special Decoral Oven, running at high temperatures (between 200°C and 230°C), where inks contained in the Film are transferred by Sublimation into the Coating layer of the objects.
4) After curing, the object is pulled out from the oven and the film (carrier), now devoid of decoration’s inks, is easily removed.
5) The object is now fully decorated and ready for being delivered to other working stations (e.g. cutting assembly for windows and doors) or packaging units.
1) It can be applied on countless extrusions, laminates, 3D objects;
2) It is simple;
3) It has an excellent aestethic output;
4) It is compliant with worldwide accepted Quality Labels;
5) It is flexible (It is easy and fast to obtain tailor-made effects)
6) Minimum maintenance required on finishings.
Decoral® process can be applied on a huge number of artifacts used in different fields. The material should only meet the following conditions: it can be coated, is compatible with the sublimation inks and can resist temperatures of 200°C with no deformation.

Self-certification finishings

QUALITYDECORAL® GOLD

Certified finishings comply with the extremely strict requirements of QUALIDECO CLASS 2 specifications, requirements that no other producer in the world can meet.
